As far as we’re concerned, you don’t really need a reason to take a coffee break other than the coffee itself, but we’re a bit coffee crazy.

As far as we’re concerned, you don’t really need a reason for a coffee break other than the coffee itself, but then again, we’re crazy coffee people. Although – it’s not just us: In Finland, the coffee break is actually an employee right. Twice a day, everyone there is entitled to a 15-minute break. Which may be the reason why the Finns have the highest coffee consumption in the world, namely 12.13 pounds per person per year! In Germany, by the way, the short informal chat in the coffee kitchen is not a chartered right. On the contrary, a coffee break that is not tracked in the time recording system could (purely theoretically) be grounds for dismissal. Long live bureaucracy…!

From kick starter to tooth protector - our top 13 arguments for a coffee break.

It’s not surprising that breaks in general make people more productive and motivated. With a coffee, such a break becomes even more valuable. Because…

1. coffee makes you happy. According to a study by the National Institute of Health, people who drink four cups of coffee a day are ten percent less likely to become depressed than people who drink no coffee at all.*

2. it relaxes: Scientists at Seoul National University have discovered that coffee aromas reduce feelings of stress and fatigue.**

3. it’s healthy. In many ways. Check out this article:

4. it is a remedy for headaches. We can confirm this from our own experience. Especially if you drink it together with a glass of lemon water. Or as lemon coffee. (www.mounthagen.de/en/coffee-culture/coffeeprep/refining-coffee-with-syrup-salt-spices/)

5. it improves your exercise performance – which is especially appreciated by athletes. Check this out:

6. it is unbeaten as a teambuilding activity. The 5 minutes spent together over a steaming cappuccino are simply a unique bonding time. And the solutions that are developed are usually more constructive than anything else.

7. it makes you smart: caffeine activates the calcium in the nerve cells and improves your ability to think.

8. it is a very casual occasion to meet someone you haven’t seen in a long time (it doesn’t always have to be wine).

9. it makes the world a little better – at least if it is an organic fair-trade coffee like Mount Hagen.

10. it inhibits the growth of bacteria on the surface of the teeth through its bitter substances. Which makes the espresso after dinner even more meaningful.

11. it is simply outrageously delicious. For us, of course, this is THE reason par excellence. But the others are also quite nice.

12. it makes you more relaxed about things like renovating.

13. there are so many wonderful flavors and ways of preparing it.

14. because…

And now it's really time for (you guessed it) the next coffee break.
