Imagine it’s Sunday morning and you awake to find warm walnut pastries and coffee have magically appeared by your bed … that’s the feeling you get when biting into these little gems. Delicious morning, noon and night – and in between, too! How to make them:

Add the flour to a bowl, make a well in the middle and crumble in the yeast. Heat the milk and butter in a pan until melted and leave to cool. Stir in the honey and a pinch of salt. Pour the liquid into the flour and knead to form a loose dough. Leave to rise for 20 minutes.

Mix the quark, milk and sugar together until smooth. Add cinnamon to taste. Coarsely chop the walnuts and add.

Knead the dough and roll out on a floured surface to form a rectangle shape. Spread over the quark and walnut cream and roll up. Cut the roll into slices approx. 2cm thick, press gently and place on a baking tray. Leave to rise for 15 minutes and then bake for 20 minutes at 180°C.

Don’t eat them all at once!
