What is a Wiener Melange?

The coffeehouse tradition in Austria is quite legendary.

So, to make sure that you do not make a fool of yourself and won’t be surprised by the unexpected coffee specialty that you are served, we have some coffee-nerd know-how for you.

A melange is generally a classic café au lait in Austria.

However, the Wiener Melange is a very special roasting. The beans are roasted and grinded together with sugar, which gives them a very distinctive caramel flavor. It is then prepared like a café au lait: Half coffee, half milk. If you like flavored coffee, you will probably also like the Wiener Melange. As for us, we are rather puristic and prefer the natural flavors from the coffee beans. But try for yourself.
