Rooted in respect.

Choice coffee, spicy and complex in its flavors – its production alone is an art unto itself. Producing it in a way that benefits all participants is another work of art altogether.

What good is an opulent espresso to anyone if forests are destroyed and the soil is contaminated with aggressive chemicals just to produce it?

And does the finest single-origin Arabica taste good to you if the coffee farmers can’t even send their children to school with the money they make from it? Not to us.

That’s why we work together with Fairtrade and pay the prices set by the organization. Permanently.

Good coffee in all respects.

Rooted in organic.

This is why all of our coffee is grown organically – and sometimes even biodynamically (in other words Demeter-certified). Which has the wonderful side effect of improving soil quality and increasing biodiversity. It uses less water, too.

Such soils also contain significantly more humus, which also contributes to the fight against climate change by capturing more CO2 than conventionally farmed soil. And that’s an effect that can’t be emphasized enough today.

As a result, “organic soil matter is not only important for soil fertility, but also as a transfer site for greenhouse gases to combat climate change. The targeted build-up of organic humus also contributes to the stability of the soil, meaning that less soil is washed away in heavy rainfall and more water can be stored during dry spells.” (Source: Demeter.de)

Rooted in taste.

Naturland- or Demeter-certified cultivation is the very basis of unbelievably delicious coffee – our coffee. Whether espresso, single origin or an Arabica blend, the beans are treated with meticulous care from the very start, continuing through every subsequent step all the way to the finished cup of coffee. And that goes for decafs and instants, too.

Why do we do this? Because we believe that only this way can we overcome the challenges of our time. And because coffee only tastes good to us if it is produced in harmony with the environment – whether people or nature. Do you feel the same?

What is Naturland?

Together with Demeter and Bioland, this certificate represents the most stringent ecological standards. They are considerably more scrupulous and comprehensive than a “normal” organic seal. For instance, they include criteria such as the exclusion of nanomaterials in production and processing, specify guidelines on social responsibility for employees worldwide and stipulate regulations for sustainable water use in regions with scarce water resources.
